Smooth Collie Dog Description


Description
The smooth collie is the kind of dog was originally developed to herd. This is a short-coated version of the Rough Collie of Lassie fame. Some organizations expensive dog breed fine and coarse-coat-coat to be variations of the same type.

The smooth collie is a large dog, ranging from size 22-24 inches (56-61 cm) for women and 24 to 26 inches (61-66 cm) for men in the shoulder, the weight varies from 45 lb (20 kg) to females up to 75 lb (34 kg) for males. Standard measure to breed is in the larger end of the range in the United States and Canada, smaller elsewhere, for example, to the AKC, the range of 22 to 26 inches (56-66 cm) and 50 to 75 lb (23 to 34 kg).

The smooth collie slightly longer than tall, with a level back and a deep chest. Features of the head, particularly "sweet" expression, is considered very important in the show ring. This breed has a long muzzle, flat skull, and semi-erect ears (although, in practice, the ears usually have to be folded and pasted at an early age, or they usually are fully upright in the adult dog).

Coat
The coat consists of the undercoat soft, very compact and straight, harsh outer hair guardian. The hair is one of the guardians to two inches long, with long hair, especially in the Ruff around the neck and at the back of the thighs. Mantle require thorough weekly brushing. Shedding is mild most of the year, heavy during shedding season twice a year.

Colour
Smooth Collies come in four colours: sable (Lassie colour, can be light gold to deep mahogany), tricolour (black with tan markings and white), and blue Merle (silver gray marble with black and tan markings) , all marked with white areas on the chest, neck, legs / feet, and tip of the tail. An additional white colour (this Collies predominantly white, with head and body usually spot a fox, tri, or blue colour). The fourth colour is sable Merle, which is a light stippled version of sable, sometimes (like blue Merle) accompanied with blue eyes or merled Party (colored). Blue eyes or eye merled in non-blue Merle collie no disqualification in the AKC standard although they be severely penalised. there are, However, plenthy of  blue-eyed or merled -eyed sable merle collies who are AKC breed champion.
